Description: Warwick Road started as a large existing dwelling and the client’s vision was to make it even bigger. The previous owner was an architect and to our surprise, the existing spaces weren’t well arranged. No offence! Unity Architects did what we do best. We looked at the existing property, retained the good parts, removed the bad and then introduced some brilliant new spaces. The new axis linking front to back is our favourite part. Upon arrival, there is a vista cutting straight through the middle of the house, presenting a view of the private garden. As an intervention, this draws you deeper into the space and the strategic application of glazed sections breaks up the overall mass of the solid forms, whilst allowing daylight to fall into some of the deep-plan zones.
