Description: York Road is a delightful project nestled within the Leamington Spa Conservation Area. After living at this property for the last 30-years, the homeowner client wanted to breathe new life into the building. A fundamental driver of the project was to create an inspiring architectural statement that would be lasting and memorable.

Unity Architects worked closely with the homeowner client to reimagine the entire ground floor programme. We attended to existing underperforming spaces, as well as crafting new spaces to create an overarching architectural vision.

The reorganised spaces benefitted from clear identities and uses, allowing the homeowner client to move from space to space throughout the day, enjoying differing lighting conditions and vistas.

One of the most powerful moves was the use of structural glazing, to provide the rear extension with an ‘infinite ceiling,’ in tandem with ensuring visual links to the private rear garden remained from the host dwelling.

This is one of our favourite projects to date and is an excellent example of creatively adapting existing buildings.

Statutory Consents: Planning approved. Building Control conditional approval.
