Proposed ancillary leisure building

Unity Architects was appointed by a private client to support them in creating a special outbuilding for their enjoyment.

The ancillary leisure outbuilding has been designed to captivate the Client and exploit the unique rural setting.

We have contemplated the vibrant and brash environment of Las Vegas pool parties and woven them into the English countryside in a more sedate fashion, presenting sophisticated summer parties, lounging in the warm weather, bathing in the pool and appreciating rural views with the setting sun contributing to the ambience.

This modestly sized building delivers the core spatial programme with a touch of exploration and adventure. You can be getting ready in one of the bedrooms and still engage with the activities at ground floor level via the double-height space, maybe calling down to request a glass of champagne or enjoying the same music playlist filtering throughout the spaces.

The feature gable shelters an external lounge which is only accessible from the inside due to being edged by the external swimming pool. This introduces spatial interplay, zones and intrigue.

Internally, the axial staircase, exposed lattice floor joists, crittall glazing system and varying geometries contribute to a dynamic sequence of spaces.

The creation of a beautiful place.

A fascinating project for an excellent client.

The main narrative for this building is social engagement and interaction. An architectural intervention that encourages friends, family and guests to create memorable experiences.”
